If you’re bothered by the fullness beneath your chin, then Kybella® might be the solution you are looking for. This nonsurgical option is great for women and men who want to slim down this common trouble spot. As many of us know, you can be in great shape and still have a double chin, and just a little bit of extra fat in this area can make you look older and heavier. Kybella injections target this stubborn fat, streamlining the neck and jawline for a slimmer, younger appearance.

Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells in the treatment area under the chin to improve your profile. Since April 2015, Kybella has been revolutionizing the world of nonsurgical cosmetic treatments, and many in the cosmetic industry are hailing it as the biggest innovation since Botox.

At MouradNYC MediSpa, one of our first priorities is patient education, allowing you to know everything about available treatments, products and how they can help you achieve your goals.

About Kybella

The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.

At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections and treatments will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.

Before your Kybella treatment, and during your complimentary consultation, a thorough assessment and medical history will be completed to determine if Kybella is the best treatment for you. Together, you and provider will go over the Kybella side effects you need to be aware of, including:

  • Bruising
  • Swelling
  • Discomfort
  • Hardness in treatment area
  • Redness

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the appointment?

Kybella injections can be completed in as little as 15-20 minutes and can literally be done on your lunch break.

How does Kybella work?

Kybella is composed of deoxycholic acid, which breaks down and absorbs dietary fat. When Kybella shots are injected into subcutaneous fat, the underlying fat cells are destroyed and cannot rejuvenate.

Does it hurt?

Patients can experience bruising and soreness immediately after the treatment and up to 7-10 days post-injection. At MouradNYC we apply a topical numbing cream to make the treatment more comfortable for you.

How many treatments will I need?

Your provider will help you determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals. Up to 6 treatments may be administered, spaced no less than a month apart.

What can I expect after Kybella?

After Kybella treatment, you will likely have some swelling, bruising, or numbness under your chin.

What are the most common side-effects of Kybella?

Swelling, pain, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment area. Don’t hesitate to contact MouradNYC to speak to your provider if you have any concerns.

How long will Kybella last?

Kybella will eliminate a lot of your fat cells under your chin, but you still must maintain a healthy weight to keep remaining fat cells in the area from expanding. As always, we recommend a healthy exercise and diet regime to make your results last longer.
