"For men, the planning around beard skin and incisions is half the operation."
A Note from Dr. Mourad
"A male facelift is the same fundamental operation as any facelift, but the planning is different. Beard-bearing skin, hairline position, and the way men wear their hair all shape where incisions sit and how the tissues are handled. The goal is a result that reads as rested and masculine, never tightened."

Overview
What is a male facelift?
A male facelift is facelift surgery adapted to male anatomy. The underlying techniques — tightening or repositioning the SMAS and redraping the skin — are the same, but the planning accounts for features specific to men.
Beard-bearing skin is a central consideration: incisions and tissue movement are planned so that hair-bearing skin is not drawn into areas where it would be conspicuous, such as behind the ear or into the ear canal region. Men also tend to have a richer blood supply to the skin, which influences surgical handling and bleeding control.
Because men more often wear shorter hair, incision placement and scar quality carry particular weight. The aim is a natural, masculine result with scars positioned to stay discreet. The right technique is determined individually at consultation.

02 · Ideal Candidates
Who benefits most from a male facelift.
The male facelift suits men whose lower-face and neck changes have progressed beyond non-surgical treatment. Candidacy is confirmed through an in-person examination.
I
Jowling & Neck Laxity
Jowling along the jawline and laxity of the neck that has reached the point where structural surgery, rather than non-surgical treatment, is the appropriate step.
II
A Masculine Goal
A desire for a rested, refreshed appearance with a defined jawline — not a feminized or pulled look. Preserving masculine proportions is central to the plan.
III
Healthy & Realistic
Non-smokers in good overall health with realistic expectations. Smoking is especially relevant in male facelifts given the skin's blood supply and beard circulation.
If this describes you, the next step is a quiet, unhurried conversation — not a sales call.
An Honest Note
When a facelift may not be the right choice.
If your concerns are primarily skin texture, sun damage, or pigmentation, resurfacing or energy-based treatments may serve you better than surgery.
When changes are early and limited, a less involved option may accomplish the goal. A facelift is not always the first step.
Active smokers face elevated risk of impaired healing, which is particularly important in male facial surgery; a nicotine-free window before surgery is required, and unstable medical conditions must be addressed first.
03 · How It Compares
The techniques behind a male facelift.
A facelift is not a single operation. The editions below show the techniques that can be applied in a male facelift, chosen to fit the anatomy.
Deep Plane Facelift
Releases the retaining ligaments and repositions the deeper tissues as one unit. Often suited to the heavier male midface and jowl.

Neck Lift
Addresses the platysma, submental fat, and jawline. The neck is a frequent priority for male patients and is often treated together.

Chin Augmentation
A stronger chin can support jawline definition. Sometimes considered alongside a facelift to balance the lower face.

04 · Recovery
What healing actually looks like.
Stage 01
First 24 Hours
The first 24 hours involve a soft compressive dressing, head elevation, and rest. Discomfort is generally moderate and well controlled with non-narcotic medications.
Stage 02
Week 1
Through the first week, bruising and swelling peak around day three and begin to subside. Sutures in front of the ear are removed around day seven. Returning to work depends on how public the role is and how the patient wears their hair.
Stage 03
Weeks 2 – 4
Between weeks two and four, residual swelling steadily declines. Shaving over incision areas is resumed only when cleared. Light cardio typically resumes around three weeks.
Stage 04
Months 1 – 12
From one to twelve months, the tissues continue to settle and scars mature. Final contour is generally appreciated by six to twelve months.

Frequently Asked
Patient questions, honestly answered.
The core operation is the same, but planning differs. Male facelifts account for beard-bearing skin, hairline position, the way men wear their hair, and a richer skin blood supply. Incisions and tissue handling are adjusted so the result is natural and masculine and scars stay discreet.
Incisions follow the natural creases around the ear, planned to avoid pulling beard-bearing skin into conspicuous areas. Exact placement is individualized to the hairline and how you wear your hair, and is discussed in detail at consultation.
Incisions are planned with beard-bearing skin in mind, but any facial surgery can affect local hair growth near the incisions. Dr. Mourad will discuss what to expect for your specific anatomy during the evaluation.
The goal is a rested, refreshed, masculine appearance rather than a tightened one. Achieving a natural result depends on technique selection and incision planning suited to male anatomy, and on realistic expectations discussed in advance.
